WHAT IS MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (MFA) & WHY IT'S VERY IMPORTANT?
Cyber Security - General Awareness - Multi-Factor Authentication (WEEK 5)
MOST IMPORTANT POINTS TO KNOW
  • Reduce Fraud & Identity Theft: MFA provides more layers of security as compared to 2FA.
  • Increase Customer Trust: MFA is an important tool for protecting consumer data from identity theft hence customer trust is built.
  • Achieve Compliance: Implementing multi-factor authentication can be a key requirement when it comes to complying with certain industry regulations. For example, PCI-DSS requires MFA to be implemented in certain situations to prevent unauthorized users from accessing systems.
  • Higher degree of safety: It ensures multiple authentications are happening before you can log in & access Resources. Eg: Factors could be Password+Phone OTP+Security Question. In this context, a hacker would need to go through cracking multiple factors if they attempt hacking. Hence, systems become more secure with MFA.
